Temperature variations between day and night play a key role in trichome production. A climate marked by wide temperature variations (hot days and cool nights) stimulates their development, as they act as a protective barrier against climatic variations and insect attacks. Regions such as Bab Berred or Taounate, where these conditions prevail, favor more abundant trichome production, guaranteeing more concentrated, higher-quality resin.

Growing cannabis at altitude, as in the Rif mountains, exposes plants to intense sunlight and harsher conditions. To protect themselves from UV rays and environmental stress, plants react by producing more trichomes. This prolonged exposure to the sun also stimulates the synthesis of cannabinoids and terpenes, enhancing the resin's potency and aroma.

Not all cannabis strains produce the same quantity of trichomes. Some strains, such as those grown in the renowned terroirs of the Rif, are genetically predisposed to generate richer resin. Growers in these regions select strains adapted to local conditions, further enhancing trichome production and improving the final quality of the product.

A certain level of stress, caused by extreme weather conditions or insect attacks, can paradoxically encourage trichome production. In response, the plant produces more resin to protect itself. In terroirs where natural conditions induce this type of stress - dry periods, temperature variations - the concentration of trichomes is naturally higher, giving rise to a more powerful resin.
