What is cannabidiol?

CBD, an acronym for cannabidiol, is used by more and more consumers for its anti-stress, anti-inflammatory or even weaning the properties of classic cannabis. But this cannabinoid is not always well known and some people still associate it with a narcotic. In this article, therefore, we are going to see in detail what CBD is, its effects and why it is so popular.

The difference between CBD and THC

First of all, it seems important to clarify the difference between THC and CBD. To quickly summarize, THC is a drug because it causes addiction as well as mind-altering effects. CBD is not a drug because it does not cause psychotropic effects or addiction.

What is CBD?

CBD is one of the many cannabinoids found in cannabis, there are several hundred including: THC, CBD, CBN, CBDA, THCA... Not all of these molecules are still well studied by science and that is why we mainly hear about THC and CBD.

Cannabidiol is therefore one of the many active molecules found in cannabis but is not considered a narcotic, which is why it can be purchased legally unlike classic cannabis with THC which remains illegal.

The effects of CBD

So why is CBD becoming more and more popular? Well, it's because it offers promising properties that make it an increasingly popular wellness product. Unfortunately, there is still no scientific consensus on the effects of CBD due to too few studies on the subject. The most serious leads on the effects of CBD are:

  • Fighting epileptic seizures: Cannabidiol appears to help balance neurotransmitters which may be helpful in fighting epilepsy.
  • Combating chronic pain: CBD appears to offer anti-inflammatory effects that help relieve pain.
  • For better sleep/against stress: CBD may help reduce stress and anxiety.
  • Fight against addictions: It would seem that CBD could help during periods of withdrawal, especially for THC, tobacco, opiates...

Although it is not possible to draw definitive conclusions in the absence of more studies on the subject, more and more consumers are turning to cannabidiol for wellness reasons. The lack of side effects and addiction make cannabidiol a great natural way to relax and feel better.
